Dr. Lawrence Rudski, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.S.E.
Dr. Rudski completed his cardiology training at McGill and his echocardiography training at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University. He is a Professor of Medicine at McGill University and practices at the Jewish General Hospital. He is the President-Elect of the Canadian Society of Echocardiography and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Echocardiography. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the American College of Cardiolgy. Dr. Rudski specializes in all aspects of non-invasive cardiology and has a particular interest in valvular heart disease and imaging of the right heart.
Dr. Bruno Benzaquen, M.D., F.R.C.P.C.
Dr. Benzaquen completed his cardiology and echocardiography training at McGill University and his Rhythm Device Fellowship at University of Montreal. He is an Adjunct professor of Medicine both at McGill University and Université de Montreal and works both at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital as well as at the Jewish General Hospital. He is currently involved in numerous clinical research projects that bridge both his interests in cardiovascular imaging and cardiac rhythm devices. An additional focus of interest rests in the early identification of cardiovascular disease using ultrasound protocols.
Dr. Vartan Mardigyan, M.D., F.R.C.P.C.
Dr. Mardigyan completed his cardiology training, echocardiography training and his Rhythm Device Fellowship at McGill University. He is an Assistant professor of Medicine at McGill University and is a cardiologist at the Jewish General Hospital. He works in general cardiology, echocardiography and pacing. He has an additional focus of interest in the diagnosis and management of pericardial diseases.
Dr. Jonathan Afilalo, M.D., MSc., F.R.C.P.C.
Dr. Afilalo is Assistant Professor to the Division of Cardiology and based primarily at the Jewish General Hospital. Dr. Afilalo attended McGill Medical School, received his training in Internal Medicine at the JGH, and completed a Cardiology Fellowship at McGill. During this time, he also completed his MSc in Epidemiology. Following his training at McGill, Dr. Afilalo undertook a combined advanced imaging Fellowship in Echocardiography and Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Beth Israel.
Dr. Georges Thanassoulis, M.D., MSc., F.R.C.P.C.
Dr. Thanassoulis is the Director of Preventive and Genomic Cardiology at the MUHC and an Associate Professor of Medicine at McGill University. He completed his MD from the University of Toronto, his medical and cardiology training both at the University of Toronto and McGill University and his MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McGill University. He subsequently completed a clinical fellowship in echocardiography at the Jewish General Hospital and a post-doctoral fellowship in Genomic and Cardiovascular Epidemiology at the National Institute of Health’s Framingham Heart Study.
His major clinical interests are in cardiovascular prevention with an emphasis on improving preventive care of young individuals with family history of heart disease or cardiometabolic risk factors. His major research interests are in the genomics of aortic stenosis and acute coronary syndrome as well as the effective use of lipid lowering therapy. He is currently the principal investigator of the CIHR-funded Early Aortic Valve Lipoprotein(a) Lowering (EAVaLL) trial that will test whether pharmacological Lp(a) lowering in individuals genetically predisposed to high Lp(a) can reduce the progression of aortic valve disease.
Dr. Friedlander, M.D.C.M., F.R.C.P.C.
Dr Friedlander completed his cardiology training at McGill University and his advanced (level 3) echocardiography training at the Jewish General Hospital. He is a cardiologist based at Anna-Laberge Hospital. He is cross-appointed to and works at Hopital Pierre-Boucher, the Lakeshore General Hospital, and the Jewish General Hospital. He has an interest in clinical cardiology, echocardiography, and medical education.
Dr. Abualsaud, M.D., F.R.C.P.C.
Dr. Abualsaud completed his cardiology training at McGill University, interventional and structural cardiology fellowship at the Montreal Heart Institute followed by a fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Diseases at McGill University. Currently works as a general and interventional cardiologist at the Jewish General Hospital and a congenital heart disease specialist at the MAUDE unit at the McGill University Health Centre.
